Zao uses bamboo for both its stylish packaging and as a bioactive ingredient due to its high content of silica, which is required for collagen and elastin synthesis.
Zao makeup products do not contain any petrochemical derivatives, only using organic-approved preservatives. The brand is also free of nanoparticles and GMOs, aside from its SPF30 and SPF50 facial sunscreen, which uses nano-zinc to achieve SPF without white streaks. Zao uses nano-zinc over nano-titanium, the latter of which has safety concerns.
